We were hoping for another range trip report but since we’re not from the 10th Mountain Division, we parked our posterior on the couch waiting until the weather becomes a little more, shall we say tolerable. So much for anthropologic global warming, I’m running 2 furnaces, fire place, my SUV is in the garage warming up, and it’s still fricken cold outside. (Sorry I digress, this global warming has interfered with my range time.) However, beware of the new terminology to explain the recent spat of GW, it’s called “Polar Displacement”, these people just don’t give up, and neither will we.
Well needless to say we had a banner year with record sales in the first six months (I wonder why that was?) and then dropped off the cliff over summer, picked back up in fall, with a noticeable absence of any traditional style hunting firearms, and we ended the year with a great selection of barrels from WOA that we’ve been building precision large caliber AR-10’s with. (This is really our passion.)
We’ve taken off from our real job (I had about 40 hours that I couldn’t carry over to next year) so we’ve completed our year end inventory, reconciled our NFA, 4473, and A&D records (which only took 3 passes, 2 for standard firearms and one for NFA items). Although I had to make a few passes through my 4473 forms and A&D records, I again noticed a salient point that there were very few names that only appeared once. Which I feel is a testament to the impeccable taste of our clients and friends, and that we keep good company.
However, we sold a lot of guns this year. Not that we are complaining but it was far more than we were really capable of and we saw the pains of this. My friends if this happens again, we do not plan to react to chaos because it only creates more. But if it does happen again our primary focus will be on our friends first, which is why I believe most names in our A&D appear much more then once.
So now that we’re done with inventory and seen how much we have it’s time for a sale. Part of the reason we are discounting the listed items is to purge ourselves of inventory and get back to what we really like doing, which is building precision AR style rifles. We’ve found over the last few months with manufacturer’s catching up on inventory, there is an abundance of stripped lower receivers and factory standard AR-15 rifles that are being sold at wholesale prices. Sorry guys we won’t be offering any of these there are a dozen people glad to sell you one.
Additionally we are going to minimize the different manufacturer’s products we use on our different rifles. It’s not that the other guys don’t offer a good product, we evaluate it from a cost and quality standpoint. For example lower receivers for the AR-15’s have the least amount of stress related use, are mil-spec, and are probably made by one of a half dozen shops and then stamped with the sellers name. So we looked at the finish and cost and decided we are going to standardize on YHM lowers.
However, since new products are coming out all the time we will continue to test and evaluate new products as they pertain to our product line. One in particular is the gas piston conversions. Since this has a significant impact on suppressor operation you will see us using more of these.
