What a freaking hot month it’s been.I’m convinced the heat is causing one of my
neighbor’s to go insane. Most of you
know me as a kind, charitable, conservative, easy to get along with,
non-confrontational (unless of course Mrs. D9 is beating me with a broom
stick), and in general all around good guy (again not to be corroborated with
Mrs. D9).Well one of my neighbor’s in
the humble Pine Hurst Estates neighborhood, which is almost exclusive for our
Hebrew friends, has decided to target D9 for harassment under the cover of
darkness.
You ask, what sort of harassment D9, well most people are
very consciences of picking up after their dog takes a crap and placing the excrement
in a bag and disposing of it when they get home.Well this nut job socialist (they’re a
socialist because they expect me to do their work) has taken the time to scoop
up the dog shit, place it in a plastic bag and then throw their little doggie bag
treats in our lawn for D9 & Chicken Nuggets (Mara our 7yr old) to find and
police up.
Last Sunday night we reached our limit, since this ass-hole
was brazen enough to deposit a bag of dog biscuits in broad day light. Now most people who know your humble host
including my leftist, free healthcare loving, “COEXIST” neighbors know that I’m
devout precision shooting enthusiast. And based on a few bumper stickers we have, we seek to inform those
slower individuals we are not ones to tolerate aggressive, terrorizing, life
threatening attitudes directed towards us.(Dog shit is a bio-hazard & carriers germs, diseases, and maggots.)
So after having spent the previous Saturday afternoon at the
range testing rifles we retrieved an “able body” style target that had a couple
holes punched in the 10 ring and a nice “inner eye” tattooed on the forehead
along with a paper plate load test target and generic Burris 100yd range target
and mounted them on a small yard sign asking the jerk off to pick up their
doggie bags. You may think, D9 this is
very provocative and almost border line threatening, well my friends after
discussing this with the local PD she stated as long as you are not making
verbal or written threats it’s just a yard sign politely telling ass-holes to
pick up their dog’ crap.
Ask yourself would you throw anything in a yard that had
this sign up?
My friends if you need assistance with communicating your
intentions to unwanted infringements on your person or property in a
non-violent way please contact us.
Just in:As of
Saturday either some kind Samaritan afraid of being mistaken for the dog shit
bomber or the guilty prick how threw them in the first place policed up their
dog treats.(Ronald Regan would be proud
– Peace through superior fire power, the bombing starts in 5 minutes.)

Transfer Policy Update:
For the past three years our UPS driver Jim has provided us
with unprecedented service.The service
was not so much how he delivered our packages but when.Since we are a private dealer and do not have
a store front we are not always available for delivery. With Jim, his route would bring him to our
place usually after 5PM and as late as 7:30PM.Additionally, we could let Jim know a day or two in advance if we were
going to have packages shipping out the next day and he would swing by even if
we didn’t have a delivery.
This practice was very beneficial to D9 and our clients
since we seldom missed a shipment. However, this great service is no longer available and Jim has been
moved to a new route.Currently, based
on reports from Mrs. D9 (Vice President, Gestapo, Warden, and general all
around loving wife), who generally receives packages for us, states that UPS
assigns a variety of drivers to our route who show up at various times.Additionally, over the last month we have
missed about 40% of our shipments on the first try and have had several held at
the UPS depot.
With this inconsistency in delivery and additional effort
for us to track packages that have not been received we need to inform everyone
that it will require some extra diligence.Generally most of our clients notify us that a package is in bound when
it’s ordered.However, it is difficult
to track this since it’s hard to gage when it will actually get here until it
gets here and we only track our own orders.
We will continue to monitor this to come up with some
solutions.However, we need to let
everyone know not to plan on coming over the day your item is expected to
arrive.Additionally, we have found that
our cost/time is on the rise and we will be looking to mitigate any increase in
transfer fee, which is still $20.
Our first option is to consolidate transfers. We have found that most of our clients
generally are agreeable to this unless there is a big hunting trip or
something. Our second option will be to
increase our transfer fee.So for now,
please assist us in monitoring your inbound shipments.
Thanks for your patience.

May Preliminary Range Report:
May Preliminary Range Report:
Since we took some time off last weekend for some range time
we thought we would provide a small sample of what we did last weekend.(We’re
also using this to let our friends/clients know why were running a couple weeks
behind on builds, transfers, and getting your firearms in.No worries though we haven’t forgot about you,
but feel free to send us a friendly reminder.)
Shown above and below customized STI 1911 38 Super race guns
that will be used in next week’s Bianchi Cup competition that is being held in
Columbia, MO.(Micro prayer rugs not
required.)
As part of our range report we had friends in town from New
Zealand who are competing in the Bianchi Cup next week so we invited them and
several of our local friends out for a little range time.Of course we were treated to running some
really awesome STI race guns that our friends will be shooting in the
competition.Although it ended up being
a nasty rainy day we all had a great time, enjoyed some close quarters pistol
and machine gun shooting, and of course finished it off with some adult
beverages.
These were just for warm up.
Watch for the full report next week.
Why Choose a 6.8SPC
Why Choose a 6
Why Choose a 6.8SPC:
The 6.8SPC cartridge was developed primarily for better
“Terminal Effects” while still maintaining long capabilities. The cartridge was developed by two gentlemen S. Holland and C. Murray, with the assistance of other
industry experts, to provide better terminal ballistics and marry to the AR-15
platform.
Terminal effects/ballistics (TB) is a politically correct and
non-violent way of saying that when 110grns of copper jacketed lead hits an
intended target (preferably some type of islmo
jihadist hell bent on killing Americans or US Soldiers, or maybe even a
peaceful dear, billy goat, wild pig, or other game
animal) that the intended target gets his ass blown off and immediately starts
to assume room temperature or become dinner. The TB of the 6.8SPC is
especially devastating in the 0-300yd range over the 5.56 round, and compared
to the 7.62 round has marginally less lethality in the same range.
The 6.8SPC is based on a shortened .30 Rem
case (which is essentially a rimless 30-30) to allow it to fit in the standard
size AR-15 mag well. The 6.8SPC also delivers solid accuracy and terminal performance out to
500yd.Additionally the 6.8SPC was also
designed for enhanced performance in a short barreled rifle, thus providing a
very solid hard hitting round in the most common engagement distances without
sacrificing control, accuracy, and operation.
As our clients and readers have noticed we have been
building more 6.8SPC rifles. The risk of
a relatively new or non-main stream cartridge is the availability of ammo and if
it will become a main stream cartridge. The 6.8SPC was released in 2004, but struggled due to ammo
manufacturing.However, by 2006, the
presses were running at several manufacturers. It also appears to be making solid in roads in the civilian, LE, &
military markets.
There are several advantages of this platform over a 308Win
and .223, but as with everything else it’s the primary application that will
drive your decision.At D9Firearms our
most common application for 6.8SPC with our shooters has been to provide a
second upper so that it could be used for deer and hog hunting without stepping
up to the 308 platform. For Midwest hunting the 6.8SPC fits the bill perfectly for
the typical ranges we see here.
The inherent benefit of the 6.8SPC over the 308 is that most
people already have a AR-15 lower, thus making the cost of upgrading calibers
limited to just the upper. The operating
cost is also comparable to the 308 as far as ammo goes. However, the 6.8 is limited to about 3
primary bullet weights where as the 308 has a much larger variety, but who’s to
say that won’t change.However, the 6.8
looses most of its power by the 500yd while the 308 has terminal power well
beyond.
From a tactical perspective the 6.8SPC definitely rules over
the 5.56 with much greater stopping power with fewer rounds. This is a critical aspect for LE types, which
keeps the round count down, meaning less potential of bystanders getting
shot.(Not to mention, it would reduce
public scrutiny when they can deliver a couple of shots versus some of these
cowboys dumping a couple of mags Rodney King beating style.I know
he was an upstanding role model citizen who you could leave your children with,
that is if you are freakin high on crack.)
In our research for this topic we found several topics
discussing the 6.8SPC in short barrel rifles (SBR).Although most of you don’t carry an SBR, the
6.8SPC is an excellent fit making this even more attractive for LE types. However, if you are comfortable with using an
SBR for a home defense round, then this is an excellent alternative.
We currently offer White Oak Armament 16” & 18” sst barrels and have some 10.5” sst barrels on order.Additionally, we picked up a couple of 6.8
16” chrome lined steel barrels from YHM.If you are interested in amping up your AR-15
and don’t want to go full throttle to a 308Win, the 6.8 is an excellent choice.
If you’re interested in a 6.8SPC and delivering some
terminal performance, give us a call.
Thanks.
Update from the Hawaiian Islands: Billy Goat
Late last year we built a custom 260Rem for Eugemar over in Hawaii. First of all, Eugemar is a bad ass name so it was fitting he called us for a rifle. Secondly Eugemar has shot enough venison, boar, and now billy goat, to piss off every nut bag vegan in the nation and probably keep a couple of the islanders well fed for the next year.
But don't worry, he does it with ease and surgical precision using his D9 custom 260 upper that we built. His rifle was built using a Krieger 24" sst 1:8 twist SDM contour barrel from WOA, JP Vtac forearm, Badger tac latch, and Miculek compensator and Armalite receiver.
It's patently obvious that D9 is going to have to investigate this situation first hand. Eugemar look for a phone call from us. I suspect Mrs. D9 will want to investigate the background view. I believe this will be called a business trip.
If you're interested in a custom AR rifle contact us here at D9Firearms. If you want to know more about hunting in Hawaii, we'll see if Eugemar will share some secrets.
Enjoy.
Visit From The ATF:
Just what dealer wants is the phone call from the ATF, actually this time it was a pleasant surprise. About 3 years ago a couple of parolee violating felons from Missouri decided to venture into Overland Park to see how people with jobs lived. Well it’s patently obvious they were some collectivist types, (if they could vote, well you know who they would be voting for), feeling like I had to much and it wasn’t fair, so they decided to break into my car one morning and lift a couple of handguns.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking, WTF D9, what’s up with a 4 pounda and a 8+1 riding shotgun with you. (Like that urban slang lingo, homee.) Well it’s a dangerous world, where crack cookin felons hold up pharmacies, banks get rolled, insane lunatics shoot up the Big Dot store, and a host of car jackings, rapes, and other bad shit happens with in 5 minutes of my office. Next you’re thinking D9 what are you doing working down in da hood, think again my friends, this all happens in the liberal utopia “of I live in Brookside and I drive a Volvo” neighborhood. (Which now has fallen victim to a roaming rapist.)
Well back to the story, after the pair of dickheads rolled my car, they went on through the neighborhood on a shopping spree, and then fled back to their trailer park in northern Missouri. After some more parole violating activities, some upstanding citizen called these two crack heads in and the local sheriff caught these two jerkoffs in their trailer sitting round smoking dope and checking out my new hardware.
I received a call to confirm that one of the handguns they recovered was mine and that I didn’t know these two douche bags. Not a chance. An ATF agentette (Woman ATF agent) called and gave me the run down and let me know that I would get my FNP 40 back once the case was closed. Well just like all good government agencies 3 years later they called me up and wanted to return the FNP. Hey, cool, I had written that off two years ago.
I met up with the agent (I can’t use his name or he would have to kill me, not really, but he works under cover and asked that I forget his name, but gave me his number in case I had to report some illegal activity) at my office and it was classic. He rolls out his badge, and I could see the receptionist looking at me like I’m some kind of felon. So the agent is a cool guy in a bad-ass way and he transfers my handgun back to me. Needless to say I stayed and talked to him for about 20 minutes getting his take on different things going on.
I know we all fear these guys thinking they’re going to take our guns, but my impression with every street level agent I have spoken with or met is they are no different then most of us. He was a devout believer in carry conceal, the 2nd Amendment, and the United States. However, you could also tell this guy was a bad-ass and if you were some kind of felon doing stupid shit he would put you down. (Interestingly enough, this can be said for all of law enforcement people I’ve done business with.)
So this was one of the friendly visits from the ATF and all went well and I got my FNP back. Of course the next ATF guy will be the inspector looking to put my wanker in vice, so I better get back to reviewing those 4473 forms.
Website Update:
We’re in the process of beta testing our new website and have sent links to a couple of you for your input and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to spool through it. We were having some difficulties and we decided to move off of the current web program and onto a different one. (I’ll leave the techno stuff to Nate.) The new website should be friendlier on older and new versions of Mozilla & IE.
Just briefly, one of the benefits of using Nates IT, is that not only is he a techno geek (we say this affectionately of course) but he’s also a gun toting, 2nd Amendment advocate, loves the USA, has an M1-A, and in general has the same passion for firearms as we do. As much as I would like to take credit for layouts or different things you see on our site, generally it’s Nate taking an idea and coming back with something so unexpected that really enhances the idea and he also has several of his own that we would never have had the creativity to do ourselves.
Another change of direction we’re implementing is that we will no longer post on Guns America (nothing wrong with their site) and we’re minimizing the amount of items we list on Gun Broker (again nothing wrong with their site). We found the cost associated with these two sites and managing multiple auctions was requiring a lot of busy work. Additionally with the auction fee’s you could easily add a minimum of $15 - $50 or more to the cost of the item versus just calling us up. However, we will still list items like stripped receivers or other items that we have a large quantity of out on GB.
Since we are a paid advertiser on Midwest Gun Trader we are going to keep this site up dated with our current listings. Since this is a non-auction site and we’ve paid the advertising fee’s we list our products at the same price as you will find on our web site. We’ve also had an excellent response locally and nationally. To this extent we have also become a paid advertiser on Texas Gun Trader since we have a large market down in the Lone Star state. (Most of the Texan’s we deal with are already cowboy’d up so they naturally gravitate to our site.)
With these changes it will allow us to focus on our core business and passion which is building custom AR-15 and AR-10 style rifles, suppressors, and handguns that fit with our products.
We appreciate you visiting our website and choosing D9Firearms for your firearms needs. Please visit our sponsored websites:
January has almost blown by with hardly an opportunity to provide a range report, update our monthly specials, show some recent builds, or just BS about some male individual who has recently displayed some degree of femininity, idiocy, or has somehow come to my attention and is deserving of some friendly encouragement to man-up.
As we discussed before, my real job is an electrical control’s engineer, which requires some travel from time to time and extra hours during the week and weekend. (We’re not whining or complaining.) January just happened to be a very busy month which has required a couple of trips back to back, several late days, and weekend work, hence is why we haven’t had much updates this month. So if you’ve tried to contact us and we’ve not responded or it’s been a delayed response we apologize.
However, even though we were busy with circuits, over the last 6 weeks we’ve completed several AR-10 and AR-15 smokin awesome rifles. After the weather finally broke we also made it out last weekend for a suppressor and optics test, which we were impressed with both. We’ve also been working on a personal pet project for our new home/car defense gun.
A couple of recent builds we’re done on DPMS receivers and in both instances the two gentlemen had been monitoring our site and new exactly what they wanted. One gentleman went as far as smoking a cigar prior to coming over just to make sure he met the minimum manly standards. (Actually, he out manned me that night, I almost felt a little inferior, but reached down and checked my….. suppressed HK USP Tactical 45 and new we were on even footing again.)
These two individuals choose the 308Win 24” Krieger SST barrels from WOA, but both very different rifle configurations. The first one went to a high planes cowboy over in south west Colorado near the New Mexico border. This rifle will be like a sweet mare when he saddles up to it and he’s also got plans for a custom regional paint job.
Upper receiver: DPMS A3 w/ 24” Krieger SST match, DPMS vented forearm, phantom FH, and he selected a Leupold 4x14 LRT (very nice). The lower is a DPMS w/JP Adjustable trigger w/speed hammer, Magpul PRS stock, Ergo grip. We also manufactured 100rds of 175grn SMK HPBT custom ammo for this rig. Priced as shown $3500
For Cigar Man we built another DPMS LR-308 variant that is streamlined, low recoil, long ranger. When it’s finished he will have the IOR Valdada 4x14 illuminated. There are two items we really like on this rifle, which are the JP Vtac forearm and the color variations on the stock and grip. The JPVtac has the same diameter as a standard AR-15 forearm and makes it very comfortable to grip, modular picatinny rails, and sleek vented design. You’ll see more of this from us.
Upper receiver: DPMS A3 w/24” Krieger SST match, JP Vtac forearm, low pro gas, Miculek compensator, and he selected one of our favorites a IOR Valdada 4x14 illuminated w/MP-8 reticule. The lower is a DPMS w/JP Adjustable w/speed hammer, Magpul PRS OD, Ergo OD deluxe grip. Priced as shown $2350. (Scope not shown)
Another two rifles we built for a long time friends and clients of ours, Army Man Mike (AAM) and Earl from Reno (ER) (congratulations on his recent marriage, gun buying is probably over for awhile now) were more manly then expected. We’ve been moving away from the full bull barrel contour because of overall weight, but that’s exactly what these two wanted.
The rifle shown below was for AAM and was built on DPMS platform: DPMS A3 upper w/20” Kriger SST match/bull/fluted/threaded, low pro gas, Troy Industries rifle length 4 rail (if you’re going with a 4 rail we can highly recommend the TI for cost, quality, and light weight), and Miculek compensator. The lower is a DPMS w/JP adjustable w/speed hammer, Magpul PRS, Ergo Deluxe w/palm shelf. We also manufactured 500rds of 168grn SMK HPBT match ammo. (If you are a Muslim terrorist and decide to invade OP, KS our recommendation is to maintain a minimum of 700yds distance from AAM, lest you meet your virgins prematurely.) AAM topped this hammer off with a Bushnell 4200 Elite 6x24 mil-dot.
For ER we only built the upper since he already had a lower from a previous build we did for him. ER went with: DPMS A3 upper w/20” Kriger SST match/bull/fluted/threaded, JP adjustable gas block (ER is developing a sub sonic load for this rifle), JP Vtac forearm. Again, this gun will be parked on a bench or prone position while ER silently delivers slow moving large caliber bullets to unsuspecting vermin. (Rifle shown with AAM’s lower and our NF 3.5x22) Note to extremists: You will not require the services of a real ER doctor. Another rifle that we’ve been secretly developing for ourselves for home, personal, vehicular, and defense against societal breakdown is a custom SBR. We are still in the process of testing this and found one bust that we will have to change which is the suppressor. The AA piston can not be removed without first removing the AAC flash hider. For this rifle we will probably switch to the SWR Wolverine or A2-R2 suppressor. Regardless, in the short term this just means we have a little more maintenance time.
The lower is a registered SBR from LWRC that we customized with a Giessele SSA 2 stage trigger, Magpul single point sling and ambi sling plate. The upper is built using a YHM A3 upper w/M4 feed ramps, Adams Arms piston conversion, Samson Star-C piston ready 4 rail, AAC M4-1000 suppressor, YHM QDS sights, Pentagon laser light combo w/micro switch on the broom handle, and a Trijicon relex sight.
We’ve also built a couple of AR-15 varmint assassin rifles. These are all built with White Oak Armament match grade AR-15 barrels. These are tack driving machines.
The bottom rifle has the following: YHM A3 upper w/WOA 18” bull/1:7/fluted, JP Vtack, Young NM chrome BCG, RRA lower w/Armalite 2 stage, Ergo grip, Magpul CTR stock. Middle rifle has the following: YHM A3 upper w/WOA 18” SPR/1:7/threaded, YHM smooth forearm, phantom FH, YHM lower w/RRA 2 stage NM, Magpul MOE, Ergo grip. Top rifle has the following: YHM A3 upper w/WOA 20” bull/1:7, JP Vtac, YHM lower w/Magpul FDE, Ergo FDE.
Another AR-15 we built and is currently listed for sale is another varmint vaporizer.
Rifle has: YHM A3 upper w/WOA 20” Bull/fluted/threaded/1:7, Levang compensator, JP adjustable gas block, YHM smooth forearm w/rails, Young NM chrome BCG, YHM lower, RRA 2 stage NM trigger, Magpul PRS (FDE), Ergo FDE grip. This just needs a commensurate optic and vermin will cease to emit green house gases. (Price as shown $1617) This rifle has varmint destroyer written all over it..
Another one we built for another long time friend and client Brad, supplied an Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel barrel and had us provide everything else.
The rifle has the following: YHM A3 upper w/AA 18” 6.5 Grendel barrel, (FH is still on order), Samson Mfr 4 rail picatinny gas block, YHM lower, Timney Mfr AR-15 match trigger, Magpul PRS FDE, Ergo FDE grip, We also built one of our UDW-308 rifles designed for the ultimate bad-ass rifle for urban combat, (or if you’re describing it to your wife it’s a deer or hog rifle) and is a real ball buster when defending your home against your typical urban gang banger, Hamas or Hezbolla terrorist, crack dealer or other nefarious individual.
This rifle has the following: DPMS A3 upper w/16” Wilson stainless steel match/1:10/cerakote black, YHM Phantom FH, Daniel Defense mid length 4 rail, YHM spectre gas block, DPMS lower w/Armalite 2 stage tactical trigger, Magpul MOE, Ergo grip, and topped with a Trijicon 4x fiber/tritium & doctor optic. This is a solid 0 – 500yd shooter, do not enter the field of view if you are any of the aforementioned individuals.
